French Hamburger with Roasted Red pepper & Feta Spread

Enjoy Julia Child's Hamburger recipe with a healthier twist -- all the butter has been replaced with a reduced amount of olive oil. Feel free to use any of the herbs you have available in your kitchen.
  • 1 lb of ground sirloin (8% fat)
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely minced
  • 1 egg
  • 4 T olive oil
  • 2 Drops Basil Essential Oil (or 2 handfuls of finely chopped fresh basil leaves)
  • 10 oz of feta cheese
  • 2-3 pieces of jarred Roasted Red Peppers
  1. Finely mince the Yellow Onion.
  2. Sauté the onion in a skillet with 1T of olive oil on low-medium heat for a slow 10 minutes until very tender but just before they start to brown.
  3. Combine ground sirloin, egg, 2.5T of Olive Oil, 2 Drops of Basil Essential Oil, and Sautéed Onion in a large mixing bowl. Fold ingredients until well combined.
  4. Form patties with a small depression in the middle -- this helps the burger hold it's shape on the grill.
  5. While grilling the patties, combine Feta Cheese and Roasted Red Peppers to make your spread in a food processor. If the spread is too thick, add a little Olive Oil.
  6. After burgers are finished grilling, set it on your favorite kind of bun and smear the Roasted Red Pepper Spread on top.
